God: Okay to whip kids with plastic pipes

As a back-sliding Baptist, I am fully authorized (by god and my mama) to comment on all things insane from the evangelical right. What you are about to read from the Raleigh News and Observer fits the bill.

A few years ago, Lynn Paddock sought Christian advice on how to discipline her growing brood of adopted children.

Paddock ordered Michael and Debi Pearl's books and started spanking her adopted children as suggested. After Sean, the youngest of Paddock's six adopted children, died last month, his older sister and brother told investigators about Paddock's spankings. Sean's 9-year-old brother was beaten so badly he limped, a prosecutor said. Bruises marred Sean's backside, too, doctors found.

Don't keep reading this if you're depressed already . . .

The Pearls' advice from their Web site: A swift whack with the plastic tubing would sting but not bruise. Give 10 licks at a time, more if the child resists. Be careful about using it in front of others -- even at church; nosy neighbors might call social workers. Save hands for nurturing, not disciplining. Heed the warning, taken from Proverbs in the Old Testament, that sparing the rod will spoil the child.

Killing your kid . . . gives new meaning to the term "spoil the child."

Go read the whole sad story. And search your soul to try to understand why these so-called right-to-lifers would caution parents about beating the shit out of their children in front of others . . . even at church.

I know, I know. The advocates for whipping kids with plastic pipes never meant for anyone to actually get killed by following their lunatic advice. And heaven forbid any "social workers" get wind of their abuse. The sad fact is, many evangelicals think it's just fine to abuse children. I just wonder why they don't want anyone to know about it?

Lock her up

and throw away the key. For.Ever.Amen.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Big, Big, Big

The size of the civil trial I'd like to see those authors on the receiving end of. I'm learning that you don't need to use physical force to 'correct' a dog, yet there are people advising others to beat their kids?

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.

Where forth art thou Jesus.

Not in the teachings of your churches, at least not most of them. This shit makes me sick. I'd like to personally pummel this ass to death, and I am not a big supporter of the death penalty. But, this jerk needs to feel the fear that that poor child felt.

Man, nothing makes me madder than child abuse....now I have to go listen to science while seething.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.
