“As it stands now, those direct generation customers are essentially freeriders on the system. They are not paying for the infrastructure they are using. In effect, all the other non direct generation customers are being penalised,” said John Eick, the legislative analyst for Alec’s energy, environment and agriculture program.

Eick dismissed the suggestion that individuals who buy and install home-based solar panels had made such investments. “How are they going to get that electricity from their solar panel to somebody else’s house?” he said. “They should be paying to distribute the surplus electricity.”

Those ALEC rat bastards, on top on top of supporting subsidies and special favors for super-polluting price gougers like Duke Energy, now say that owners of small-scale renewable energy sources should be required to pay the power companies for cutting into their protected class bottom lines!

Solar energy is one of very few industries actually growing in North Carolina right now, and many farmers are finding solar farms one of the few remaining "crops" in our state that offers a reliable revenue stream in these uncertain times.

This is the same ALEC that named NC House Speaker and GOP candidate for US Senate, Thom Tillis it's legislator of the year a year or two ago. Tillis, if I'm not mistaken, also sits on it's ALEC's board of directors. This outrage must never make it to a vote in our general assembly; at least not while the Teabag majority is still in the driver's seat.
