Newsweek: When made aware of details, Americans support most proposed Democratic health insurance reforms

I found this recent article from Newsweek rather telling. In sum, it asserts that Americans - when made aware of the details of the Democratic Party's proposed health insurance reforms - show significant support for most individual pieces of the package. This is intriguing when those same persons, before they are educated about the components, are fire-hot opposed to the reform package as a whole. Apparently, the Tea Party folks and some insurance corporate types and some Republicans (those who'll vote for anything that builds up corporate persons while tearing down actual breathing persons) have won the battle over handling public relations on this issue ... but not the war, whose outcome is yet to be determined. Stay tuned.

Groundhog Doesn't See GOP Shadow, Dems Elated

Today, February 2nd, is traditionally Groundhogs Day.

Though Democrats have had a lot to be nervous about over the last few months – including the loss of the Kennedy seat in the U.S. Senate and two governorships - a partisan Punxsutawny Phil and Democratic Donkeys should see yesterday’s item from Politico.com and Gallup instead of their shadow. (After all, even groundhogs and donkeys have Internet access these days!)

State Fire Marshal Fights to Keep "The Silent Killer" Out of Your Home!

Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Wayne Goodwin announced that beginning Jan. 1, N.C. landlords were required by law to install at least one battery or electric carbon monoxide alarm on each level of each rental unit. Often called the silent killer, carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible, odorless, colorless gas that's created when a fuel source burns incompletely.
