Burr has earned his defeat

Richard Burr is best known for pushing bad security legislation. It has earned him widespread contempt because it would expose us all to harm without making anyone safer.

That record argues against his re-election to the U.S. Senate, and he is losing. His desperation is evident in his ads smearing his opponent, Deborah Ross.

Ross is gaining ground and though Burr may still be leading (poll results vary), not for long.

In The Lancet: North Carolina HB2 is bigotry's counterattack on LGBT rights

Founded in 1823, The Lancet is a well-respected, peer-reviewed British medical journal. Not a hotbed of politically correct ideologues. Though if all you read were the McCrory et al federal court filing in defense of HB2, you might be granted temporary forgiveness for thinking so. When in fact, The Lancet's works stand squarely on the scientific evidence.

North Carolina Senior Democrats call for repeal of HB2

North Carolina Senior Democrats voted at their statewide convention in Raleigh to call for the General Assembly (NCGA) to repeal of HB2 outright and "reaffirm its support for protecting and advancing the constitutional rights and equitable treatment of all residents and its opposition to discrimination, prejudice, homophobia and transphobia."

An accurate history of North Carolina's Confederate monuments

The North Carolina General Assembly passed and Deputy Assistant Governor P. McCrory signed legislation aimed at preserving Confederate monuments from corrective action. They offered ahistorical rationalizations for their actions, which Duke University professor Timothy Tyson concisely corrected.
