MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin Democrats on Friday ousted a delegate to their national convention for saying she would vote for Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain in November.

Embarrassed by a defection in their ranks, the Wisconsin Democratic Party's administrative committee voted 23-0 to strip Debra Bartoshevich of her status as a delegate to the Denver convention next month.

Hillary protesters greet Dean in Charlotte

From Jim Morrill at the Charlotte Observer:

Around two dozen Hillary Clinton supporters, some carrying signs saying "Dump Dean," attempted to shout down Democratic national chairman Howard Dean during an appearance in Charlotte today.

The protesters, who described themselves as members of a group called "Charlotte Front and Center," shouted and waved signs as Dean spoke to about 150 people at a voter registration rally on West Boulevard.

Thank you David Price

I would like to thank Rep. Price for his support for closing down the School of the Americas and his co-sponsorship of HR 1707, legislation that would suspend operations at the School of the Americas, renamed WHINSEC, and investigate the history of human rights abuses and failed policies of the institution.

Of the 125 co-sponsors of this bill, Rep. Price is the ONLY NC member of congress to put their name on the line.

The School of the Americas (SOA), in 2001 renamed the “Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation,” is a combat training school for Latin American soldiers, located at Fort Benning, Georgia.

A tent for 800 journalists, bloggers and activists will be set up at Denver's Democratic Convention site.

Few activities are more filled with political insiders than national political party conventions. But this August in Denver, a coalition of progressive groups hopes to broaden the coverage and conversation surrounding the Democratic Convention by hosting 800 bloggers, nonprofit leaders and independent journalists.

Today is the deadline for state legislators and other candidates to file the fourth in a series of six disclosure reports that provide details about their income and spending for the 2008 election cycle.
