Switched At Birth: Katrina Anniversary Edition

I recently came across a set of images depicting two current residents of the White House. The composition of these photos was so strikingly similar that I at once thought I had uncovered a pair of twins separated at birth. Of course, the circumstances behind each caused me to think again.

Robin Hayes Hates Puppies

Update: With the GOP Attack-machine working overtime, I thought now would be a good time to revisit my homage to this style of campaigning. This diary was originally intended to parody the GOP-style smear, but quickly turned into a serious look at the very real consequences of one Congressman's failure to act.

As if we didn’t have enough reasons to despise Robin Hayes, this terrible tragedy unfolds today.

LOWELL, Mass. - A trailer carrying dozens of puppies to Northeast pet stores caught fire just off an interstate, killing all of the estimated 60 dogs inside, authorities said.

What, you may wonder, does Robin Hayes have to do with 60 puppies dead in a tragic truck fire on a Massachusetts highway?

Follow me below the fold, and I’ll tell you…

Fuzzy Math, GOP economy style

Excuse me while I get this out of my system...

The Rethugs in DC are cheering themselves silly with the recent announcement from the Office of Management Budget that the projected national deficit for 2006 is $296 billion.

Huh. Last time I checked, $296 billion is a lot of money...and running a budget deficit of $296 billion is really shitty. As a matter of fact, if I ran my personal budget in a deficit, Bank of America would start slapping me with overdraft fees and over-the-limit fees and all sorts of other penalties designed to keep me motivated to run a balanced budget. Because, when you get right down to it, a deficit is the amount someone else has to cover your ass. In the case of our national deficit, China is Bank of America and the overdraft fee is a little something called Interest. But more about that later.

Rep. Hayes plays Where’s Waldo

I just can’t resist a good game of Hide and Seek. So, when I read earlier today that the Hayes camp was now claiming ‘ol Flip-Floppin’ Robin (FFR) had somehow managed to squeeze in a little face time with W. on Independence Day, I just had to find out for myself if this was true.

Uh, no.

Let me give you a bit of background. As Lance pointed out earlier today, The Charlotte Observer told us on June 30

Three N.C. House members represent the Fort Bragg area.

Rep. Robin Hayes, R-N.C., of Concord, would seem the likeliest candidate to join the president. But with a race in November, he's planning to be part of a few holiday parades in his district on July 4.

Here are some stats:
Just on Wednesday, 855 emails were sent to legislators from all over the state! This may be a one day record for our coalition partners! Over 900 e-mails have been sent this week alone!
