North Carolina Democratic Party SEC Meeting Open Thread

The meeting is about to start. The atmosphere is festive for the most part with what seems like a large number of people wearing Patsy Keever stickers. Before the meeting started we enjoyed a patriotic sing-a-long led by NCDP Secretary Melvin Williams.

Colors have been presented and a convocation has been delivered.

Sock Puppets and Astroturf Part 1

Over the past several months George Fisher, David W Moore, Chris Telesca, and a number of fake accounts suspected to be tied to Moore, have created chaos on Facebook as they jumped from one Democratic party group or page to another spreading lies and rumors in an attempt to smear Patsy Keever, while bolstering support for Randy Voller.

Misogyny within Voller Faction of NCDP hits new low

The heat is on and Randy Voller’s personal blogger, George Fisher, a former candidate for the NC Senate, David Moore, and Moore’s cadre of sock puppets have been busy little bees. The two men and have been flitting about Facebook writing some of the pettiest comments I have seen in my 10 years of blogging. These men rank up with some of the foulest misogynists I’ve run into, and while I’m perfectly capable of tuning them out, it seems they are intent on bringing down Marshall Adame, the man they have been supporting for chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party.

NCDP Flat Broke and in Debt $129,000

The election of a new chair to lead the North Carolina Democratic Party is right around the corner and the State Executive Committee still has not been informed where their meeting will be held on February 7. It is assumed that the meeting was changed from Daniels Middle School in Raleigh to TBD because the school did not have enough parking to accommodate a meeting of this size.

The path forward: A reinvigorated, refocused state party

One of Randy Voller’s last acts as chair was to announce that he would not run for re-election to helm the North Carolina Democratic Party. He must be commended for his announcement as it was a selfless ownership of responsibility for this year’s election and provides the opportunity for the Party to start anew ahead of the 2016 elections. North Carolina Democrats have a lot of work cut out for them, yet I remain optimistic for what lies ahead for our party.

Randy Voller announced the news at the Executive Council meeting. No announcement in the larger Executive Committee meeting.

So far no fights have broken out. :)

I will add more once we arrive home. Adopting resolutions has been tedious, but much of the rest of the meeting has been very interesting. The best moment was the unexpected entry of Justice Cheri Beasley. She received a raucous standing ovation and was moved to tears. Second best moment was the surprise entrance of Justice Robin Hudson. Second only because she is not facing a recount.

How NCDP Chair Randy Voller Denied Union County Dems the right to vote in the Democratic Party political process

Imagine being accused and punished for something, but your accusers never clarify their charges. Ever. They just accuse you of committing "irregularities," without offering proof of any kind or specifying their charges in any way. This is exactly what happened to the Union County Democratic Party when NCDP Chair Randy Voller coordinated with then (2011 - 2013) UCDP 1st Vice Chair Diane Little, to abruptly end our 2013 County Convention, denying nearly 100 Democrats who were gathered the right to vote for UCDP officers and delegates to the 8th and 9th District Conventions.

NCDP ShamerGate Takes Hilarious Turn

We were among those who had a family member receive the shaming mailers from the North Carolina Democratic Party and the Sierra Club. Five mailers (scans linked at the end of the post) were received in five days all sent to my oldest daughter who only became eligible to vote in 2011. At first I was livid on her behalf. We do not live in a municipality, so do not vote in odd years. Fortunately, the requirements of our GOTV campaign kept me so busy that there was no time for the anger to fester. Now, that fiasco has taken a turn for the hilarious.

Due to the NCDP's efforts with the Blue Ballot statewide we won three supreme court seats, two appellate court seats, and if we could have had more time to pull our folks together on the third race we would have won that appellate court seat, too.
