Apex hick attorney won't seek re-election

When you compare Apex to Raleigh, the bastion of small town charm doesn't compete with the metropolis. Rural in many ways, Apex and other small towns in North Carolina still cling. To their insidious ideology whether from homegrown Southerners or transplants, pseudo (in many ways) Christian beliefs, small government, less taxation, astute and proud, overt and covert bigotry.......and the list goes on.

Some people simply can't let the city of Raleigh have nice things.

A bill filed late Thursday by three Republican N.C. senators would put the 308-acre Dorothea Dix property up for bid – likely revoking a deal reached between Raleigh leaders and Gov. Pat McCrory to create a park.

Rent too damn high

Rent is too damn high, especially if you work for minimum wage. Tell me again why we shouldn't raise the minimum wage?

The Raleigh-Durham area joins several mid-size metros as having the highest rent increases in 2014, according to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal.

The report, based on data from real estate research firm Reis Inc., looks at apartment rents in the fourth quarter 2014 compared to the previous year. Nationwide, the average increase was 3.6 percent; Raleigh rents rose 4.8 percent.

Larry Kissell, NC-08: The Politics of Barbecue

If you're from North Carolina you are familiar with the tradition of mixing politicking with barbecue. What could be more natural since North Carolina is known for its barbecue? Saturday, Larry Kissell, candidate for the U.S. House in North Carolina's 8th Congressional District held a fundraiser featuring barbecue from the Murphy House and sauces from eateries around the district. Close to 250 people showed to enjoy the politics, the barbecue and the band.
