It was a big day for American Muslims yesterday as America's first Muslim was sworn into office in the House of Representatives.
Still more spectacular of an event, that went almost unnoticed, was the first Pagans taking the oath of office as well. Mazie Hirono, a Hawaiian Democrat and Hank Johnson a Democrat from Georgia, both Buddhists, took their oaths of office yesterday. Unlike their Republican counterparts, it is obvious they did not run on a platform of Jesus. They ran on the issues and won on the issues.
It is interesting to note all the Republicans that lost in November all used Jesus as a prop in their campaign. I am not saying Christ ain't what he used to be, I am saying using religion as a means to win elections is becoming worn out.

I LOVE this one Storm
BTW, do you know if they were forced to swear-in on the Christian bible?
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.
No book at all.
Buddhists really don't have holy books per se.
