YDNC State Convention: James Carville Keynote Speaker

Mark your calendars now for the 2008 YDNC State Convention, which will be held March 29 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in RTP (http://www.sheratonrtp.com/). The keynote speaker at this year's convention will be James Carville, the CNN commentator, political strategist, and all around firey speaker.

The convention will also host trainings, presentations, and (hopefully) debates between state-wide Democratic candidates. More information will follow in the coming weeks, but mark your calendars now. BlueNC will receive updates, but do consider signing up for the YDNC email newsletter at http://www.ydnc.org. The signup box is on the left.

We also have a page on our site for 2008 Convention updates and news. Click here for the page.

It's also YDNC's 80th Anniversary

2008 also marks YDNC's 80th anniversary, so we are planning some events at the convention to mark this milestone. YDNC is the nation's oldest Young Democrats organization, and we are one of the founding groups for the Young Democrats of America.

We'd love to see you all come out to our convention this year.

I would, of course, disagree

I would, of course, disagree with you, nctodc. But, come please do come to the convention and then see what you think.

Of Course

I've seen Carville speak several times and he's always entertaining, but I still think he's a weird choice for this particular moment.

The Ragin Cajun!

I was excited to hear that this was in the works when I spoke to Zack a few weeks back, but if this means its set in stone, I'm pumped. It should be interesting to hear his take on many issues, to say the least. I, along with hopefully many of the Young Democrats of Cabarrus County, will be in attendance.

The College Dems held their own convention already this year

The College Dems held their convention this year already. I do imagine both groups will have breakout meetings during the covention, but we are still working on the day's schedule, so that info will be forthcoming. We have different ticket levels (cheaper levels) for teen and college Dems, so we certainly hope they will join us in droves as they have in the past.

I don't think Carville is that odd of a choice.

He's never without controversy, but he is a fiery speaker, and funny as anything. I'm hoping to be able to get rid of enough gray to get in to see this. :)

That would heighten the chances of us meeting...

...thus increasing the odds that the world would now end as we know it. That'd be entirely too much shenanigans for one room.

I'll buy you a beer.

Or beverage of your choice. :)

Am I that transparent?

Hmm.

I figured that would be the best way to plot the overthrow of governments. Over liquid refreshment.

Any contacts in Jimmy Carter's camp?

We need to make sure that crazy bastard's schedule isn't booked for March 29th. Only THEN, will we be making progress.

Now you're on to something.

I LOVE James Carville

I have always loved him, and I will continue to love him, notwithstanding what I consider to have been a big mistake on his part by way of spouse selection. I have to assume it was a sex thing.

Ew.

Repuglicans have sex? Surely you jest.

I heard they do

That's why there are still so many of them. No one chooses to be a Repub--they are born into it.

Perhaps due to

Mendelian selective breeding programs, you know, peas in pod.

I actively oppose gerrymandering. Do you?

I've never heard that.
