The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Xe's contractors apparently aren't any better behaved than Blackwater's were. It's time to stop entering into contracts with these folks. Betsy Muse's blog Comments Hate to sound un-patriotic Actually, I don't mind at all. As much as I can't stand these military-contracting tax parasites, I often wonder why we can despise them and what they do but don't view members of the military in the same light. I mean, sure, screw Blackwater, but we have to "support the troops" who are, in my opinion, very similar to mercenaries. Being a member of the military, which is basically a hybrid of corporate and state power anyway, is just like being a paid mercenary working for corporate America albeit with the pretense of 'patriotism' and other mythological nation-state worshiping garbage. The military has killed far more innocent people than any of these contracting companies, yet they don't get anywhere near the same level of criticism for it (in my opinion). I guess at least the members of the military aren't as blatantly motivated by personal self-interest. ---------------------- "The natural wage of labor is its product." -- Benjamin R. Tucker A liberal is someone who thinks the system is broken and needs to be fixed, whereas a radical understands it’s working the way it’s supposed to. I think this is right I guess at least the members of the military aren't as blatantly motivated by personal self-interest. Thanks. Mondays are depressing enough without having my service in the Army compared to mercenaries and cult-worshipers. *sigh* Serenity now, serenity now.
