A large crowd gathered Friday night at On the Snap Sports Bar and Grill in Fuquay-Varina to celebrate the Campaign Kickoff for Jason Wunsch, the Democratic Candidate for the N.C House Seat in District 37. Wunsch is running against Republican Paul "Skip" Stam. Among those in attendance at the Kickoff were Legislator Jennifer Weiss, of the N.C House of Representatives, Paulette Hill, Executive Director of the Wake County Democratic Party, Fuquay-Varina Commissioners Ed Ridpath and Jim Abernathy and longtime Holly Springs Commissioner Ham Womble. The event was also well attended by volunteers for President Obama's campaign in North Carolina. Wunsch addressed the crowd about his platform. "A primary focus of my Campaign is education. The current budget for North Carolina cut out over 6,000 jobs in education, which is detrimental to children, the future of this State." Wunsch also addressed Amendment One which was co-sponsored by his opponent. "I am firmly against Amendment One and in this terrible economy, we don't need anything to deter business from coming to North Carolina." Wunsch was very encouraged by the support shown at the beginning of his campaign. "This was a terrific start, and I look forward to listening to the people of this district to learn how I can best represent them."
