Why Does Liddy Hate America?

I knew Dole was getting desperate, but this is astoundingly stupid.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A small group of Republicans facing election fights next year have rallied around war legislation they think could unite the GOP: call for an end to U.S. combat in Iraq, but wait until President Bush is out of office.

::

The proposal, by Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, would require that Bush change the mission of U.S. troops from combat to primarily support roles, such as training Iraqi security forces and protecting U.S. infrastructure in Iraq. His legislation would set a goal of completing such a mission transition within 15 months. If enacted immediately, that timeline would not kick in until Bush's last couple weeks in office.

Co-sponsors of the bill include Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina and Norm Coleman of Minnesota. Of the sponsors, only Voinovich is not up for re-election in 2008.

You gotta hand it to the old gal. She's got chutzpa. It takes a lot of nerve to operate with this kind of undisguised partisan greed. Liddy wants to hold off doing the right thing because she wants to save her own sorry self, no matter how many people get killed in the meantime.

I don't know about you, but I'm not sure I've ever seen anything more disgusting. Maybe it's because this little bit of news has gotten her attention.

Come on, Grier. You can take her.

It's time.

Labor Day has passed and now October's rolling in. It's time for a candidate to emerge that really can represent North Carolina and what this state is truly about. I can understand the need to evaluate where things stand, but in a political climate like we're seeing today, with the polls favoring Grier that we've seen, we can get the message out and we can start today.

Time to send another love note to Grier

and let him know how much each of us will support him in his important bid to send Liddy back to Kansas.

North Carolina. Turning the South Blue!

North Carolina. Turning the South Blue!

With about 50%

of North Carolinians actually approving of the job Liddy is doing and the other 50% split between disapproving and "Liddy who?", it's going to take a very, very strong candidate and one helluva PR blitz to replace her. Seems there are a whole lot more NC wingnuts around than I want to admit.

thankfully

none of those people vote.

The Elon Poll is run by a bunch of right wingers who cant even manage to poll registered voters, let alone likely voters.

"Keep the Faith"

"Keep the Faith"

Again unfortunately

enough of them voted to send the likes of Jesse Helms to Washington for 30 years ('72-'02), and enough of them voted in 2002 to push an airhead like Liddy past an intelligent and well-connected opponent. This state used to produce genuine statesmen like "Senator Sam" Ervin, Terry Sanford ("Uncle Terry" for the Dukies), and B. Everett Jordan. Somewhere along the line we traded in our horse and got a jackass.

Maybe I'm just being pessimistic. Sorry.

Bowles ran 2 very lackluster campaigns. Neither he nor his

people strayed far from the interstates, and he had three years to build a base via the grassroots. I was not impressed by either of his runs.

Burr came from 10 points back in 3 months to beat Bowles. IMO there is still time for a Dem to jump in, expose Dole for the chumpette she is, and kick her butt in 2008.

Person County Democrats

I actively oppose gerrymandering. Do you?
