What's up in Alternate Realityville?

For those who doubted that DAG McCrony lives in his own Alternate Realityville, the Raleigh News & Observer reports the latest on the Dix Park controversy (quick recap: back when we had a competent governor, she reached an agreement with the City of Raleigh to lease the state-owned, highly prized Dorothea Dix campus to the city for 75 years for $68M. The GOP right-wing nut jobs pushed to void the agreement because...well, because they really hate the City of Raleigh (Dems in charge!) and because they can. In the end, a so-called "compromise" prevailed in which DAG McCrony signed a "standstill agreement" that gave the state and the city 1 year to negotiate a new agreement. We pick up back in the present:)

The standstill agreement calls for a series of environment assessments and appraisals before both sides return to the negotiating table. According to a progress report attached to McFarlane’s letter, state officials haven’t granted the city permission to access the Dix property or to look at environmental records.

The delay means that the environmental assessment won’t get done by the Dec. 1 deadline set out in the agreement

[emphasis mine]

OK, got it. The city has been trying to comply with the first step of the agreement and has been trying to perform the environmental assessments. But the state hasn't permitted them to do so, and from here, it appears to be deliberate stonewalling.

And now we go live to Alternate Realityville:

At a news conference Wednesday – shortly after McFarlane sent the letter – McCrory told reporters that he’s aiming to reach a new agreement with the city by early December. The city’s progress report, however, indicates the environmental studies needed for the negotiations won’t be done until at least March.

“I am trying to find out exactly where any holdups might be,” McCrory said Wednesday. “I want this Dix park to work, but I also have to protect the interest of the state.”

What?!? Did the DAG really say that? His own people have blocked the city from doing step 1 -- environmental assessments -- that were supposed to be done by December 1 and now probably won't happen until March of next year.

And the DAG's reaction is that he hopes to have the whole thing worked out by December? Three months before Step 1 is complete? And he's totally clueless about why his subordinates are filibustering? Oh, right...he isn't constrained by reality. In Alternate Realityville, it's all good!

The curious thing is that Raleigh Mayor McFarlane wants DAG McCrony to "play a more direct role" in this process. Maybe she just wants to visit Alternate Realityville to see for herself what kind of a place it is. But if she really wants to make progress, she should request that the DAG and his McCronies appoint a competent, neutral negotiator and then they should go play on Jockey's Ridge for a few weeks.

We are stuck with a lying, clueless, dumb, delusional governor for 3 more years. Heaven help us!

Now I get it!

Time doesn't apply in Alternate Realityville! THAT'S why the DAG isn't concerned!

More from Alternate Realityville:

Gov. Pat McCrory drew more than 200 questions and comments in the 30 minutes he spent on a Facebook question-and-answer Monday evening, but he replied to just six.

His limited interactions drew scorn from posters on his Facebook page but the governor's office declared it "successful" in a statement afterward.
