It is pouring rain here in Union County

Pouring rain.....and I still don't have our rain barrels and I'm listening to all that water going to waste just pouring from the downspouts. Arggghhhhh!

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Not waste

What goes into the ground helps recharge the aquifer. What goes into streams flows into South Carolina, which while clearly being the "lesser" of the Carolinas still needs drinking water.

Oh...I know that....but

we're planting shrubs and plants and I keep thinking how nice it'd be to have full rain barrels in case we go a few weeks without rain....so...just for me it feels like a waste.

Betsy, you will be amazed at how little water it takes

to fill your rain barrels when you do get them. I got mine last fall and the first little trickle filled them in a few hours.

I let mine drain for the winter so as to keep them from damage when the temperature drops. They even sell covers if you can't take them inside for the winter but leaving the bottom valve open seems to work fine.

Thanks!

Well, the rain has slowed for now, but we're expecting more.
