Switched At Birth: Katrina Anniversary Edition

I recently came across a set of images depicting two current residents of the White House. The composition of these photos was so strikingly similar that I at once thought I had uncovered a pair of twins separated at birth. Of course, the circumstances behind each caused me to think again.

Follow me to see for yourself...

One of these photos depicts a concerned guardian, working vigilantly to protect those in his charge.

The other shows a cowardly watchdog, feigning determination in the face of catastrophe while reluctance and fear render him immobilized.

Can you guess which is which?

If you picked Barney, the White House dog, as the concerned guardian, you are CORRECT!

You see, while Barney was busy scanning the horizon for unknown dangers, Bushie was scanning the horizon for someone to blame for his failures.

While Barney was trying to protect the people he loves, Bushie was trying to protect his public image.

Barney was so worried about doing his job well that he sat in front of that window for hours on end to make sure nothing bad happened to his home.

Bushie was so worried about looking like he was doing his job well that he allowed himself to be photographed sitting in front of a window to make sure nothing bad happened to his approval ratings.

He sat for a long time.

He looked really worried.

Notice the clenched fist and furrowed brow.

But while Bushie was busy looking concerned, New Orleans was falling into chaos.

Perhaps if Bushie had put as much effort into the Federal response to Hurricane Katrina as he did in posing for those PR photos, the good people of New Orleans wouldn't have had to experience this:

But he didn't.

And they did.

Which is why I've named this diary Switched At Birth. I think Barney and Bushie were switched...that We The People actually deserve a vigilant guardian like Barney the Dog but by some crazy twist of fate ended up with Bushie the Coward.

You're doing a heckuva job, Bushie.

The truth is

any old dog would make a better president than George Bush. Even a dead dog. That's just how bad the Bushman is. Worse than bad. Flat-out disastrous. On every front.

Very, very, very nice

I love this and I'd already seen the pictures. Nicely done.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

You know,

I found that picture of Barney and I thought how funny to put it up against the picture of Bush looking out of the airplane window.

Then I found SO MANY different pictures of Bush looking out of that window...and I realized that to whatever degree I knew it was a staged photo I wasn't even close to guessing how much effort BushCo put into making him look concerned. Way, way more effort than they put into acting concerned.

Bush is much worse than an incompetent boob, he is dangerously disconnected from the responsibilities of his position and completely unconcerned about it.

Well Done WFC

Very well done! Too bad Bushie hasn't learned to rollover yet! Seems the only command that the evil big dog has taught him is "stay"!

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Thanks, Mo.

It never ceases to amaze me how much damage theys guys have done to our country.

Is it 2008 yet?
