A Federal Election Commission report issued this morning showed that Pickens native John Edwards, a former North Carolina senator, topped the donor list among 17 candidates who filed reports...Republican Mitt Romney, a distant third or fourth in most state polls received the most money among Republicans and was close behind Edwards.
Edwards, who was John Kerry's running mate in the 2004 presidential election, raised $186,109 from his native state, Clinton, $36,100; and Obama, $31,811.
Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, took in $171,425 while former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani received $127,050 and Arizona Sen. John McCain, who leads Giuliani in polling, listed $122,640.
