Obama screws progressives again

Can this "Democratic" White House be any less Democratic?

I'd swear Bush and Cheney were still in office if I didn't look at the calendar.

Enviros and homos get thrown under the Obama bus yet again.

...the man the Obama administration has chosen to take a stab at fixing the Gulf oil spill disaster. He's an avowed "proud homophobe," who thinks that "sodomites" are responsible for infecting "innocent victims" with AIDS, and he's an Al Gore hating climate change denialist too!

Was there really no one else?

Is there really any one left that thinks Obama -- or any candidate he is supporting in the primaries tomorrow (Blanche Lincoln, Arlen Specter) should be given another term?

I hope Arkansas and Pennsylvania Democrats give Obama and his minions at the DNC and the DSCC a swift kick in the groin.

More locally, this news has just sealed any lingering doubt about my vote against Cal Cunningham in the NC Senate primary.

No to proudly homophobic, climate-change deniers being appointed to clean up the oil spill.

No to Obama.

No to Arlen Specter.

No to Blanche Lincoln.

No to Cal Cunningham.

is he the best qualified on oil spills?

If so, I don't care about his political perspective. I'm pretty sure the guy in charge of oil spills is notgoing to be asked to deal with gay rights issues.

I don't know why he was appointed or even who he is. Is he the best at dealing with oil spills? If so, good. Get to work.

Well, let's put a little critical thinking cap on

...lawyers are supposed to do that, right?

Would you call some scientist as an expert witness who disagrees with the majority of those in his field?

Katz is supposed to be a scientist/physicist. His own words (follow the links) on matters of causation (climate change -- no matter the cause; and HIV infection) lead even the most casual observer to be suspect of his conclusions.

Of course, checking his history requires following links and reading, and a little independent googling.

You're grasping at straws

You're grasping at straws with that metaphor...I mean, really.

This guy's being asks to stop oil from gushing in the Gulf, not develop a comprehensive US energy policy or sit on the DoD Working Group on DADT. Until someone can suggest a reason why he's incapable of participating in the capacity in which he's been hired, then I could give a damn.

As I noted on twitter, if my house is on fire, I'm not stopping the firemen to ask what their prejudices and/or political ideologies are...and the Gulf Coast is on fire. This is an all hands on deck situation.

This is just another case of Aravosis trying to further his pre-existing meme about the Obama administration and others just going along with it hook, line and sinker, without regard to the extenuating circumstances. At this point, it happens so frequently that I'm no longer surprised by it.

Follow-up on Katz

All the naysayers here will be glad to learn that even Katz didn't know why he was selected for the panel.

"I was honored to be invited and enjoyed the experience," said Katz. "Did I have anything much to contribute? I think I have some ideas for how to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future, but I don't have anything very specific to offer on the present problems. It is very much in the hands of the real pros."

Apparently, even the Obama administration thought better of having "Why Am I Here?" Katz with the group. He's off it now.

hyperbole

Can this "Democratic" White House be any less Democratic?

Yes it could, witness 2001-2008. This all or nothing kind of thinking from either end of the political spectrum is pointless.

I actively oppose gerrymandering. Do you?
