NC Alert … Roy Cooper standing strong to represent most citizens

Note: The title of this post was changed by James

North Carolina Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper is going head to head with newly elected Republican state and senate representatives in joining other states to repeal Obamacare.

Cooper has refused to join litigation by other states.

“The Attorney General must uphold state and federal laws, but if they conflict, the US Constitution and federal law prevail. A state law that authorizes North Carolina citizens to violate federal law could be found to be unconstitutional. The federal health law is deemed Constitutional until the federal appellate courts conclude otherwise.”

So if Cooper feels this way, why have other state attorney generals filed to repeal Obamacare. Cooper needs to step aside and allow the will of the people, not his democrat loyalties play political game with the people of North Carolina that elected and overthrew the democrat house and Senate. I’m working on getting a protest permit at his office location, will give details upon permit approval. Roy is now on my Radar list of Moonbats!!

Randy’s Right

Odd posting here.

Shouldn't you be posting over at RedState? You're not going to find a great deal of sympathy among BlueNC readers for screeds against "ObamaCare".

I'm thankful for responsible officials like Cooper who understand loyalty to the public's interest and the rule of law, instead of far-right ideology.

Nearly all of us here believe that it's actually a good thing for more people to be able to afford quality health care. I'm sorry that you don't.

While I believe in a civil exchange of policy views, I don't feel obliged to refrain from politely letting you know that you're barking up the wrong tree here.

The will of the people

That's the term of art for reactionary "patriots" who want elected officials to do exactly what they want, even though "they" represent a 25% extremist sliver of the entire population.

Most people in America do not support repeal,
Mr. Right. You should have paid more attention way back when you were in arithmetic class. Just to say it, 25% does not equal "the will of the people."

I'm not going for ther

I'm not going for ther personal attacks thank you. Yet why are entire states filing suit against Obamacare and the largest uprising public uprising since the VIetNam war protest??
This Obamacare may be for all the right intentions I agree, but it will end up in a bureaucratic nightmare with healthcare. I received Treatment at the VA, 3 months to get a appt, lines and waiting you would not believe and am not impressed at all with VA physicians and cheap off brand Rx. This is what your healthcare will be like. I dropped my VA and had my wife put me on her insurance. I even got Rx's that the VA would not cover.
I never believed the "don't take grandma off life support" propaganda, but I do beleive trying to get a knee or hip replacement after 65 will nearly be impossible to take 3-4 years to get approved an that's if you even qualify.

Bottom line is the VA tries to do thier best, but it is an example of American socialized healthcare. You have no idea what your getting yoursleves into.

In other words...

You rail against "American socialized healthcare" while at the same time claiming the benefits of such healthcare as provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Do you suggest that Attorney General Cooper file suit against the VA, DoD, Medicare, and Medicaid, while he's at it?

Got it.

I'm With Roy!

As one of "the people" I don't think "Obamacare" goes far enough in getting those of us without medical insurance something like affordable healthcare, but it's a step in the right direction, albeit a small one.

Attorney General Cooper, if you happen to read any of this, stand strong. We've got your back on this one.

How'd that one find it's way in here anyway? ;-)

On health care reform, do you

On health care reform, do you realize as it stands every legal immagrants that is here on a work visa or educational visa along with everyone of their family members will alos receive free health care, not sure how were going to pay for this?? Plus know way do I want the Feds to take control of 1/6 of our economy, your going to end up with a disaster like SS is in. And where in the Constitution does it sa the govt can force you to buy health insurance. Even for all th right reason, we see the fovt over stepping it's bounds on our liberty

Federal involvement in health care

Just a little simple math..

Government accounts for more than 60% of healthcare spending, according to most estimates. If healthcare accounts for 1/6 of our economy, then government already has control of about 10% of our economy (the healthcare part). If you figure government spending for other things (like defense), it seems to me that government spending is a pretty big economic engine.

As for the Constitutional argument, it seems to me that was settled in 1798, in the 5th Congress, with the passage of a law that required merchant seamen to pay through payroll deduction approximately 1.25% of their income to support a system of hospitals and clinics for seamen. Signed into law by President John Adams, the bill was passed by a Congress that included a number of delegates to the 1787 Constitutional Convention. Those "Founding Fathers" who are so reverently worshiped by the "strict constructionists" didn't seem to have a problem with compulsory payroll tax deduction and the establishment of a government healthcare system for private employees.

In this case You are Wrong

Regardless the decision by other states, Attorney General Cooper is upholding his oath of Office, which by the way, is the same oath I as a LEO have taken.
To violate that oath could be an impeachable offense.
Quite frankly, until the federal court process has worked its way through, Health Care Reform is the LAW in this country. Now Republicans, who see themselves as "tough of crime," wouldn't want to encourage the highest law enforcement officer in the state to disobey the law would they? That would make them co-conspirators!

That right their tells me the way you think, ugg!

Rule of Law Not Good Enough?

Randy, it seems that you are more concerned with ideology than you are having elected officials follow the rule of law.
If you want to have an honest, open debate on the facts, I am ready and willing to engage with you. What I would ask is that you come out, like I always have on my posts, and use your full mame rather than hiding behind a ghost name.
This is a free country and you have a right to your own opinion. What you do NOT have a right to is your set of facts. Peace!

Bubba is a state employee?

I wasn't aware North Carolina had a Department of Angry Growling. I would have had him pegged as a disgruntled postal worker. Or a retired one, that is. Pretty sure that beard's not within regulation.

p.s.: Don't tell him I said that. I have enough crazy antagonists in my life as it is...

I'll tell Bubba your complaint

Here's Bubba and me talking with one of your boys. This is the guy that grabbed the microphone out of Bubba's hand when he was confronting your baggage boy Congressman Etheridge. Seemed Etheridge would only hold a public town hall if SENAC/SEIU sponsored it. We didn't take kindly to that and now he's out of office :)

and your Communist

and your Communist Representative Price will be next election who'll be voted out, once we get fair and balanced redistricting in NC. People in American are waking up and Patriots are not going to stand down.

Be strong enough to carry

Be strong enough to carry your own burdens; be compassionate enough to help others carry theirs.

I got no problem being compassionate to others who are willing to help themselves. The Democrat philosophy is to keep people poor, keep them comfortable being poor and they'll keep voting you into office until you run out of "our" money'
