More right-wing hatred from right here in North Carolina...

I know that some folks here tend to visit Ogre's site and try to "discuss" issues. I've given up trying to talk sense with the idiot. His positions are without merit, his arguments without fact, but little did I know how immoral he was. From his blog today:

Ohio Gays Oppose Free Speech

Sorry, faggots, in this country, at least so far, we've got freedom of speech. If I Ken Blackwell or I want to tell you that what you're doing is against God's law, we have a right to do that and zero obligation to "shut up." In fact, in a free country, you telling me to "shut up" is much more offensive and dangerous than me telling you that you've made a bad choice.

This is the guy that you want to talk sense into. What is it that has driven him to this name-calling, immoral rage? Well, you can bet no one ever uttered the words "shut up" other than the Republican (a.k.a. loud-mouthed bigot).

Well, at least that's what the gay Ohio group Equality Ohio says:

We call on Blackwell to retract his statement and apologize for his remarks

In other words, if you speak your opinion, you should shut up -- unless, of course, you agree with them.. So, what horrible thing did Ken Blackwell, candidate for Ohio governor in 2006 say?

I think homosexuality is a lifestyle, it's a choice, and that lifestyle can be changed. I think it's a transgression against God's law, God's will. The reality is again ... that we make choices all the time. And, I think you make good choices and bad choices in terms of lifestyle. Our expectation is that one's genetic makeup might make one more inclined to be an arsonist, or may make one more inclined to be a kleptomaniac. Do I think that can be changed? Yes.

So, Ken Blackwell was putting out his opinion that homosexuality is a choice. Ken Blackwell is running for Governor or Ohio. He's asking to represent all of Ohio and all of its citizens. Including those that he just attacked. A group of concerned Ohioans wanted him to come out of the dark ages, which is impossible for a Republican, they can only continue to hate and be immoral as long as they ignore facts. They asked him to retract the statement and apolgize. No "shut ups" involved. But, this was enough to put your pen pal into bigot, immoral, hater mode.

It's funny, I don't remember Jesus calling anyone names in the Bible? I guess we Democrats must have a different copy than the Republicans. And, I'm still waiting for people like Ken Blackwell to come out against shrimp, clams, crabs, lobsters, pork chops, pork barbecue, and leather. All in the Bible as things that are immoral and will get your sent straight to hell. Yet, nary a peep.

I don't know how you do it.

The vile and putrid stench of the Ogre is way more than I've ever been able to stomach. But in some ways, I'm glad to see him out there. He represents the end-state that government-hating theocrats are looking to achieve. Maybe if he gets enough exposure, regular people will stop and aske themselves if that's really the worldview they want to support.

I enjoy chatting with Ogre

I haven't read his site much lately—I haven't read many sites much lately—and I missed this particular post. The rhetoric is familiar, but I find the name-calling disappointing. His positions can usually be boiled down to an extreme libertarianism, which seems to be his sincere and deeply-held belief. That tends to lead to positions that are wildly out of touch with the Anglo-American legal tradition.

But this is just straight up homophobia, and it's disgusting.
