Monday Morning Open Thread - 4/28

Good Morning! I know we're all tired. Driving back in the rain was awful last night. It was raining so hard I couldn't see the lane markers and the trucks were barreling around us even in the driving rain, but Katie was chatting about all the really interesting people she'd met and I was still excited about seeing everyone, so the time flew by.

I'll have video and pictures up later of the blogger bash.

What's on your mind?

We left in a hurry

I'm sure some of you know that we high-tailed it out of there because my son had been in an accident. He rolled his Explorer. It's totaled, he's not. He's got a bruise where his seat-belt held him in his seat. He will be hurting today, but he's not broken at all the way he would have been if he had rolled with the car.

Thank you Ralph Nader.

Another time

Sorry I missed you. I'm glad he's OK

I'm so glad he's OK

I didn't know he'd been in an accident. He will be sore but he can't be replaced and the car can. Good for the kid and the seat belt. Sure we can thank Ralph Nader, but it was Mom, Grace and the other responsible adults around David who made sure he was trained to wear that seat belt. Having it in the vehicle doesn't do much good if you aren't wearing it. Good job, Mom.

Wow.

Glad to hear he's ok.
It was great to meet you and Grace.

Praise be

glad he's okay. Had me worried there for awhile.

Yikes!

Glad to hear he's OK!

Me too, thanks, everyone.

I'm thinking that I'm glad he had a big giant gas-guzzling steel cage around him when it happened, and not a wimpy little crushable thing like I drive. We're getting ready to go see it now.

Same here

My sister did the same thing in a 1996 pick up on Friday. She said the only thing that hurts is her neck from where she undid her seat belt and hit the ceiling of the truck. It kinda makes me glad that we still drive gas guzzlers, and a little less guilty about it too.

So will yall/he replace the steel cage or buy a crushable thing?

That is sooooo cute!

Can I put that in the BlueNCtv spot? I need something fresh for that.

Yes of course!

My wife would think that was very cool.

How cute!!!!!

And from this early childhood educator, I can see that you are doing wonders in getting him ready for school! He's already learning civics!

Or a teacher.

You've got to keep them entertained in the classroom, you know!

Argh.

That Rolling Stone article Rob Schofield linked to is pretty heavy -- graphic and no holds barred. Local humanely raised pork and other meat producers are around, though, so at least there are choices. Here's hoping that one day soon being a concientious omnivorous progressive will be less expensive. :/

I'll check with Katie and Erik

but I'm sure they would have mentioned it if they had found a key in the box.
