Somebody get Robin Hayes a change of knickers. I think he just wet himself. What has Robin Hayes flat out running scared?
It isn't what. It's who. It's Larry Kissell, that's who.
Larry Kissell, his campaign team and his enthusiastic supporters from 2006 have finally been joined by the DCCC and many Democrats throughout the district who held back their support last cycle because they didn't think Larry could win. People are scrambling to jump on the Kissell bandwagon and the only thing to say to that is, "Thank you!"
Larry's underfunded grassroots/netroots campaign last cycle proved that he has the support it takes to win and that brought early words of support from the DCCC this cycle. This week, D-trip announced their Red-to-Blue challengers list and Larry Kissell was smack dab in the middle of it. The DCCC didn't order the list by importance of race or the candidate's likelihood of winning. The list was in alphabetical order. I took a closer look and I can come to only one conclusion - Larry Kissell belongs at the top of the list.
Larry Kissell headlines the DCCC Red-to-Blue Democratic challengers list because of the 13 candidates on the list, Larry Kissell is the only candidate in a district rated by Congressional Quarterly as "no clear favorite". Every other district is rated either "leans Republican" or "Republican favored". Those of you who aren't familiar with the Kissell campaign might just think it's lucky that Kissell has filed in a district where there is a good chance for a Democrat to win.
Not.so.fast. Larry Kissell, his campaign team and his supporters have helped move North Carolina's 8th District from being rated "Republican favored" to "Leans Republican" to "No clear favorite". We did it. Together. It is because of this that Larry's campaign should be at the top of the list.
All of the candidates are deserving. All of the candidates are working hard to win their races. Many of the candidates are going for the seat for the second time. Larry Kissell is the only candidate on the list who has worked with a team from the grassroots and the netroots to move the voters in his district this far away from the favored incumbent.
Maybe the DCCC feels it's fair to put the names in alphabetical order. Fair is good. We're very thankful the DCCC has included Larry Kissell on the list this cycle.
But, for those of us who have supported him from the very beginning, for those of us who gave our blood, sweat, tears and a pound of flesh to help Larry convince the voters in the 8th to vote for him and for those of us who experienced the heartache every time Larry was overlooked by the pols, pundits, big money donors and the national party.......this is oh, so sweet and we think Larry's name belongs at the head of the list.
Congratulations Larry Kissell and the entire Kissell team.
