from Rose Colored Glasses Ashevillein's blog Comments whoa. The Pentagon gets 481 Billion in discretionary spending. And Energy gets 4.2. And Social Security/medicare gets 10.1. And Transportation gets 23.4. And Veterans benefits gets 39.6 If we doubled the money to Energy, SS & medicare, Transportation and Veterans benefits, the Pentagon would still get over 400 Billion dahllas to spend, discretionary-ally. "They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot." Yep. Ain't life in Busherica great? And yet there are still people who will tell you, with a straight face, that "entitlements" are breaking the back of the tax-paying Amerikkkans. I can save the DOD $281 million dollars, just say no to this OLF and stop spending money for studies that the navy will not read or missinterprutes. $481 Billion dollars is a lot to spend, and alot to spend properly. With this amount of money being thrown around, there is no way that one party should be policy/decision maker, AND the oversite, AND the budget folks. That is putting all the $481 Billion in the hands of no oversite. That is really dumb. A split of the responsibilities must be established to protect from porkbarrel spendings and other abuses.
