How a Progressive Sounds, My Take on John Edwards TODAY

There has been much ado here today about John Edwards. Mostly from folks that are not familiar with the site and don't understand the backstory. Much ado about nothing in my opinion. So, let me give you a link to the John Edwards speech at Gnomedex 6, which gives you an idea of what John Edwards will sound like in 2006, 2007, and 2008 - a Progressive.

My favorite quote after the break.

My favorite quote:

If the Democratic party wants to lead this country, we’re going to have to show a little bit of backbone [like] universal healthcare. Why in the world our party can’t say “We are for universal healthcare. We are going to fight for universal healthcare. Anybody that stands in the way of it we are going to do anything we we can to drive through them…We need to show what we are actually made of and what we care about.”

And, don't forget this, a clear call to withdraw from Iraq starting NOW!

I just marked a comment as spam

on this thread, but I'll let Lance be the final say. It had some sexual references on it that weren't necessary.

Just so the oh-so-brave "anonymous" commenter knows why it was marked as spam

Wow...taking it to the mat

not being weasley about how you say things. Being strong and standing up for what you believe. I can relate to that. Watch out though Mr. Edwards. Some people don't want you to stand up for what you believe.

Driving right through sounds a little more violent than putting a cutesy little devil face on someone, doesn't it?

Robert...that wasn't directed at you...

I am an Edwards fan for the most just struck me odd and I'm sure all those supporters who took offense at the picture won't say a word about the violent language he uses to say how the Dems need to take action. Just thought I'd point that out.

Double Post. Sorry

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

no worries on my part...

My gut feeling is this:

1. The first post was an inside-post. You had to be here for the previous love-fest when you declared you would jump on his bandwagon to "get it".

2. A few OACs went over the top on their response.

3. The message was received no matter the course, which is the second time we've pushed Larry into one of these "things" - Netroots Candidates being the first time.

4. We need to figure out an event where Larry can buy us all a beer : )

5. We need to figure out an event (especially we Chapel Hillians) where we can buy John Edwards a beer.

Give us a ring and we'll hit Town Hall for a beer and wings if you're in the mood!

Edwards' language and "the picture"

You are right about that Southern Dem. It's all a matter of perception I suppose. I'm not upset about the language and you drew the picture, 'tho I like this one ever so much better, lol.

Please c'mon over to OneAmerica and join the conversation. Your diary at DKos was absolutely awesome, I was one of the recommenders, it would be great to have you at OAC as well. Greg Flynn was there earlier today and I was glad to see that and welcomed him.

I am glad we had this set-to, it taught me a few things, as well as broadened my horizons. Here I am at BlueNC and liking it. Hope you'll give us a try. We're a scrappy bunch but we're loyal and for the most part, reasonable.

We're at OAC blog

but I am at OAC blog...I just forgot my login info! I also joined Stan's yahoo email group. You see...I never really fell out of love with sweet John...I was just being a manipulative female. hehehe

Oh and need to add that I'm glad you've stopped by and hope you'll keep dropping in to help maintain the dialogue about John Edwards and his initiatives.

Sneaky girl, lol!

Awesome!! I'm gonna swipe Leslie's post and do a diary at OAC, it's a terrific post. I'm psyched how things worked out. Check it out in a few minutes!

Ohhhh I really like 4 and 5

But I need to tell ya'll about something else. There are two bloggers on Kos/MyDD who are doing a documentary on the netroots candidates and Larry is first on their list. Hold on and let me get the link. Basically, these guys are coming to NC in September and want to tape about Larry and those who blog for him. We may need to come up with a neutral meeting place, but it sounds great.

Wait...there's something else

I meant to say this about the tape. The guy who spoke first. He said something about a candidate's image (paraphrasing here), etc.

My first thought when I was watching John Edwards on this tape was "man, he's relaxed." Then when he was laughing and going back and forth with the guy I thought he was just so natural. If more people could see that. Youtube will be great for someone like Edwards who can think on his feet and who is such a natural public speaker.

This is great!

Thanks, Robert! I LOVE these YouTube clips. :)

I've seen some great ones of Edwards, Clark, some others. I've forwarded a few clip-links on to our yahoo group forum list. Some of y'all might have posted those clips and links. Keep it up! They are powerful.

"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
