Happy anniversary to us!

If you've ever started a business, you know that it's sometimes hard to remember exactly when everything finally came together. And so it is with BlueNC, which first found its footing in the murky days of winter last year. After a bit of a false start, followed by a graceful recovery and relaunch, BlueNC as we know it today had its first official entry posted by Lance on December 18th, 2005.

So thank you to Lance - and to all the wonderful people who have contributed time, ideas, energy and encouragement over the past 12 months. It's been a most excellent ride!

Woohoo!

It's really hard to believe we've only been at this for a year. Sometimes it feels like a gazillion . . . and then again, sometimes if feels like just yesterday when I got that fateful email from Lance.

Congrats for the Courage to take it to new level

Without Blue NC, there would not been a challege to Hayes nor a Heath campaign on fire, or the evil political reggressive empire of Art Pope being expose in the proper light of competitive politics.

Just think, a old communist piss off dude from Orange County, a couple of law students trying to make in the legal world and a house mom with the research skills of a disformation officer in CIA bought about a change in the political internet world of North Carolinas politics.

Thanks, Max

I've never thought of myself as an old communist pissed off dude . . . but what the hell. I could definitely do worse.

Thanks for all your visits and creative energy.

:)

One year!?

Wow. Congrats! but more than that...

THANK YOU!!

"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."

:)

Awwww. You're sweet.

PS I really appreciate this comment because up until now, I never knew how to make big blue letters like this! I'm such a dork in the HTML world. This will expand my repertoire by magnitudes. What a great way to start our second year!

googley "html codes"

is my friend. Most days I'm too tired, rushed or multitasking-attle-brained to use it, but the One year mark of blueNC required some special effort! :)

Congratulations One And All

Just imagine, I'm 56, but I'll always be able to think of the rest of you as "the old guys," "the originals," "The founding partners."

Wow... suddenly I feel so young!

I'm 56 years old. I moved to North Carolina five years ago. The previous twenty-five years I spent as a resident of Chicago's north shore and before that Wisconsin, Utah and California. I live in Moore County. My Congressman is Howard Coble, my State Sen

Happy Birthday to you....happy birthday to you

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Congrats!

Great job, all of you at BlueNC!

Congratulations, BlueNC !!!!

Hehe...I have a bit of a memory lane post

Coming up later today. My oldest broke the laptop hinge over the weekend during what appeared to be a contact-IM-session. I never knew IM'ing was a contact sport.

I need to get the hinges repaired and I will be back on to finish my little post.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. The Muse household is hosting pneumonia and bronchitis for the holidays. We're all having so much fun together. :)

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Thanks, everyone!

I don't get much time to post here these days, but I think almost every day about how lucky I am to have had an opportunity to work with the personalities that keep this community clicking along. Thank you!

When the 2005 election rolled around, I think we posted something along the lines of "we haven't been up and running long enough to offer anything like a list of endorsements, but please just vote." What a difference a year makes! From The Southern Dem (the first user to sign up here after our revisions) to MJBricks (member for 6 hours and 46 minutes) you have all come together to make change happen.

Though much has changed since the first post, I think it's fair to repeat: "BlueNC will be ready to kick all kinds of conservative ass in the new year!"

Ah, the blogiversary

It's been a year of friends well met here at BlueNC, and I'm entirely grateful for your camaradery as we climb this steep political learning curve together. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Seems like just days ago....

that I followed the link on Anglico's flag-burning post to the hinterland that was BlueNC. What a great diary, if for no other reason than it brought me here. It wasn't until several months later that I realized I knew A elsewhere under different names.

2007 should be a fun year.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

I'm grateful...

because you've made it possible for North Carolinians to have an voice and an impact. You've done a fantastic service for all...even for some who don't yet realize what you've done. Thanks!

Here's to many more blue years!

Hear hear! Thanks so much to all of you guys from the bottom of my heart.

I do not it would be possible to be prouder of a wesbite/blog and the impact it can have on so many, than BlueNC. We all know that without this very special place everything since 2004 would have been an object failure. We wouldnt have had Chairman Meek, competitive races in all 13 US districts, or such great success in such deep red counties.

I look forward to being on here, talking, listening, and watching, NC Progressive politics for many many years to come. And most importantly, working with you all every step of the way.

Here's to the bluest future ever!! :)

congratulations!

I think I found you last summer and try to look in as often as I can. I really appreciate the information on NC politics and the help in being at least a little more involved than in the past.

Here's to more years of speaking truth to the pompous, and others.

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

They, asked me how I knew,
My true blog was Blue - NC,
I of course replied, something here inside,
Can not be denied.

They, said some day you'll find,
All who blog are blind,
When you heart's on fire, you must realize,
Smoke gets in your eyes.

Apologies to Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach

I just found NCBlue a few
