Do or do not. There is no try.

Tomorrow night BlueNC will host the first ever statewide election party. By late afternoon, we'll have an open thread up for general discussion, plus dedicated threads for key races as well. We'll also have a forum for people to report voting problems or other stories that election officials need to know about. Many of you have other places to be and people to meet, but I hope you'll stop by to keep us all posted on what's happening in your district and in the races you care most about.

I'm still recovering from surgery and won't be able to get out and about. So thank goodness for early voting. And thank goodness for all you're doing to further the common good.

James Protzman, aka Anglico

The first time I canvassed for an election was in 1972. I was a young Navy officer working to dump Nixon in a bright red precinct in Norfolk, Virginia. It was one of the most discouraging experiences I've ever endured.

Today I'm not discouraged, but I sure am nervous. I don't trust the cheaters in the Party of Greed as far as I can throw them, because they will steal these elections if they can. So I'm sharpening my knives and getting ready for the revolution. Just in case.

Pre-election jitters

I'm nervous too...

I will be out most of tomorrow, driving Democrats to the polls (primarily elderly voters). So, hopefully that will help the day go by until I stop over at the North Carolina Dem Party State headquarters for the Victory Party.

I'll stop in here for your election party, later that night.

LESS THAN 24 we go!

I hope you are recovering comfortably ...and

I share your nervousness. Made 30 more calls today for Kissell and had good, positive responses from most. Of course, there are always the few nasty folks...but, there we are. I can't do any more. I'm working our precinct tomorrow trying to get folks to vote Democratic and to support the candidate Nan and I have worked hardest for locally...Julia Boseman. We'll check in after the polls close...or when we're exhausted and have to leave. Our other vols flaked on us.

I read a comment someone made on Kos not long ago that is sticking with me...something to the effect that we citizens have four ways to make our voices heard ...the soapbox, the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge that order. My powder is dry.

Good luck to all...and I think we here at BlueNC can say we've done our part.

The Boxes Story is Great

I'll be working the polls tomorrow too. I'll be working for my favorite candidate is District 13, but I will be praying for my second favorite in District 8. I have SD's cell phone number. I thought I had lost it, but thank goodness I found it. I also have Momo's cell number. I worked hard in David Price's first campaign. My brother made me. I didn't know David at the time, but Brad was right. This campaign has been sooo hard for me and my family. My 92 year old mother has had to see those vile ads. She said she seemed okay on the outside, but she was bleeding on the inside. A, don't you have some good left over drugs you can share? LOL.

Thank you all for being such great roll models

For your ever encouraging voices and constant stream of news and information. The past 6 years has stirred my political consciousness like never before. I was afraid during the Nixon years, but the bush years terrified me. Because of the people here at BlueNC, over the last 7 months I have become so much more active than I ever thought I would or could. Thank you one and all!

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

It isn't a good role model, but

I sent a fax to Taylor's Washington office tonight with instructions for Nov 7th.

1. Bend over
2. Put your head between your legs
3. Kiss your ass goodbye.

Stan Bozarth

Aww Stan, that was very thoughtful of you,

Now see, I would have never thought of that. Wednesday, we should probably be sending that message to a lot of the criminals along with a note of "And don't let the door hit you in the ass!"

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

I am going to be up all night

I am going to swing by the NCDP event earlier in the night, but I am sure that I will be up scanning for results until 4 AM or so. Be ready to come by.

Did your beautiful

wife know what she was getting in to when she married you? :-)

She should have...

even if she claims not to now. She also likes the beautiful comments.

Go BlueNCers!

You all have done a magnificent job! I'm proud to be one of you, although a bit of a "johnny come lately". When Stan and I first moved here to NC, he found you and signed up. It took me awhile, and yet, I am here as well. Tomorrow we will celebrate victory, largely due to YOUR efforts. You have done a wonderful job. And on November 8th, I will help lose Ms. Dole!
Thanks to you all,

Report from McDowell

People here have gotten the repeated harrassing calls and they are pretty mad. But most people appreciate the reminder call, and even laugh if I start out with "Can you stand one more political call tonight?"

The Rs have already gone around and removed most of the democratic the precinct signs, leading me to believe we must put them up at 5 a.m. next time. My home signs were removed today for the third time, even the ones nailed to trees. What can ya do? They must be pretty friggin' desperate is all I can say.

Could use a pep talk right about now. Thanks to all you guys at BlueNC for providing this forum. I never feel alone out here when I have y'all to post what's pissin' me off!

Dealing with sign thieves

Since they are usually living around you there are some simple steps to take:

1) figure out when the signs are being taken;
2) spend one night on stakeout with a digital camera;
3) go to copy center; and
4) place blown up pictures of your neighbor committing a crime on the doorstep of all of your neighbors (with appropriate description of course).

Optional: call the police.

Sign thieves

When I was at the Cumberland Co, HQ on Sat, they told me about the big problems they were having with sign thieves in the area. I believe they were stealing Kissell signs. We had a lot of that here in the Triangle in 04 with Kerry-Edwards signs too. Unreal.

option #3

get a big spotlight and one of those canned air-horn noise thingees. Wait until they try to take them and jacklight them, wake the whole neighborhood with the horn and embarass the hell out of 'em.

CountryCrats - my thoughts, my blog.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Now I would like to vlog that. ;)

Hope to see you tomorrow night!

You know I'd do it if

my camera worked in low light. But I don't think I'd be much good for phone banking tomorrow!

Don't let the desperate slimeballs get you down...

Desperate people do desperate things and those bastards are going down, thanks to the efforts of hardworking Democrats across the country. We will be doing the Victory dance!

DQ, All That Cell Phone Radiation!

It's going to mutate your genes even further, all this phoning. You'll be transmogrified into a superhuman political siren who wins elections with nothing more than her sonorous, enthusiastic voice.

I wish you were coming to the Drinking Liberally party tomorrow, but we'll catch up soon enough.

Scrutiny Hooligans -

Wishes come true

I plan to be there unless I'm too tired. And it's a cordless phone. But maybe that's even worse!

I'm not sure the people around here feel that way about my phone voice. But it's nice of you to say so.

Here's a little treat to cheer you up:

My Republican husband called and wished me luck tomorrow

I do believe he would vote for Larry if we lived in the district. Robin Hayes' negative ads even turned him off.

The ground team/GOTV team here in Meck has done a wonderful job. Dan gave me a bunch of volunteers to follow up on and I was worried they would say that it was too late for them to plan to work a poll. Instead, one informed me she had already picked up a poll packet from headquarters and was waiting to be told which poll to work. Others were delighted to be called.

People love Kissell here. Let's just hope enough of them get out and vote.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

That's pretty nice of him.

A supporter of a local house candidate filled out her mom's absentee ballot in front of me today and filled in Taylor's name!! I said to her: "if you knew a tenth of what I know about our congressman, you would not be physically able to do that."

But she wants her NC house candidate to win and she did it anyway. I have no idea why she told me about it. Right now, your hubby is high on my list of nice guys.

Hehe....he's trying to be high on my list

He was supposed to be in town taking the day off so I could have my election day fun. Oh well. There's always 2008. I will give him no choice then. :)

Ya'll hang in there tomorrow. Don't let the bastards get you down. I know it is going to get ugly.
