Day 64

Dandy Forest is all a-twitter about reopening NC, even as data point to the possibility of a second C19 spike. A good Washington Post article on this today. The lag between the reopening frenzy and people dying will be a couple of months. “We’re looking at potentially a month or two later that we’re going to see the impact” of the reopening, said Leana Wen, the former Baltimore health commissioner. “You have not seen the impact of reopening yet. I think there’s going to be a very significant lag.”

One BIG element in the NC reopening saga is the GOP's desire to fluff Donald Fucking Trump at the RNC Convention in Charlotte in August. The convention promises to be king of all super-spreader events, recontaminating the Queen City and churning up virus infections in the wake of 50,000 visitors. I say let 'em have it and let 'em die if they want to.

The quarantine is taking a giant toll on my daughter, who is on the autism spectrum. She's in an Atlanta apartment with her fiance, and both are struggling under the weight of too much uncertainty.

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate Trump Republicans? Their willingness to lie and cheat and steal in pursuit of political power is despicable.

My list of home projects is growing and growing instead of shrinking. I'm getting stuff done, but new stuff keeps coming up. All this rain has taken a toll on my house and my mental health. It all reminds me of lyrics from a song on an album called Deja Vu:

Morning comes to sunrise and I'm driven to my bed
I see that it is empty and there's devils in my head
I embrace the many colored beast
I grow weary of the torment, can there be no peace?
And I find myself just wishing that my life would simply cease.
