Cash-strapped Union County seeks state help on crowded jail

This is what happens when you let Republicans slash your taxes to the bare bones. Not only can Union County not pay for their jails, their water and sewer department is being taken over by the state and DENR has slapped a building moritorium in the western part of the county because of inadequate infrastructure.

Union County has the second-largest debt per capita in the state and is grappling with capital request needs that could top $300 million over the next few years.

Maybe they should stop arresting people

Some county somewhere is going to abandon the ridiculous war on drugs, driven there by busted budgets. Maybe Union County should get on with it. The war on drugs is stupid public policy, stupid economic policy and stupid in terms of creating any greater good.

Just do a Google search

Easy to find common sense if you want to look for it on this "war on drugs" issue.
