CoverItDown?

Looks like CoverItLive may have crashed. I bumped myself out and now can't get in either here or at the "stage door"

Obama had big gains on national security

CNN says Obama won

According to CNN poll Obama "won" (whatever that means). Caveat: slim margins and possible heavy Democratic viewership. A poll tomorrow may be different.

The Poll group the Greenberg Quinlan used

were undecided voters, heavily Republican in 2004 and they said Obama won by an overwhelming margin - bout the same as CBS

Wish Obama had tied a few issues more directly to McCain

I was surprised that Obama didn't say anything like "your tax policy rewards folks that own 13 homes and 12 cars" or that petro-dollars "fuel aggression against us and the world yet you and Bush's policies have only increased that flow of money" or bringing in McCain's advisors collusion in the Georgia mess, etc.

Obama needed to defuse the "rotting corpse" rhetoric, though I'm a bit at a loss to suggest an adequate response to that bit of hyperbole.

Glad he brought up the Spanish premier though....

I think Obama won but by no

I think Obama won but by no means overwhelmingly. I wasn't particularly impressed with either performance. McCain had a few good points and was otherwise repetitive. Obama had a few good points but was often too vague on his ideas. It probably doesn't help that he's nowhere near as comfortable speaking without a teleprompter.

Judging by the polls i saw, the Obama is considered to have won the independents by a 60-40 margin which is good enough for the win. Do note, however, that SurveyUSA put out polls with Californians saying Obama won 53-30 and people in Washington saying McCain won 40-38.

Au contraire

I think Obama is plenty comfortable speaking without a teleprompter.

Exciting? About like watching paint dry on a wet day?

As Chris Rock said last night! The black guy didn't knock out the white guy in order to win period!

That's a comedian's spin

I think Obama did a much better job of making his point and not losing his cool. Before the debate started, my spouse and I had a discussion about who would lose it - McCain, because he's an angry, angry old man, or Obama, because who wouldn't be pissed off at McCain at this point? I think McCain came closer to losing it than Obama did, though I know Obama's patience was strained. He borrowed a couple of Biden's "Joey the Shark" smiles.

Speaking of which - that's the debate I'm waiting for: Biden V. Palin. I. Cannot. WAIT.
