Wow. See, I thought everyone with a brain actually understood that this ACORN story was not a story at all. That is was all hot air. But, this morning on MSNBC Robert Kennedy, Jr. tried to explain why it wasn't a story and Mika Brzezinski and Mike Barnicle scoffed and said they didn't believe him. What?
Let's summarize what happened after the break, but here is Kennedy.
Okay, so what happened.
- ACORN paid people to register voters. Is that illegal? No. Is it unusual? No, in fact "McCain Is Paying Nathan Sproul – A Top GOP Operative Whose Tactics Include Destroying Voter Registration Cards And Disenfranchising Voters". In 2004 you might have had your door knocked on by DNC-paid folks registering voters. Or, RNC-paid folks. You see in 2006 the California GOP fell victim to the same problem, because "Mistakes in big voter registration drives are inevitable, even in Republican campaigns. "
- Some people filled out forms wrong and/or illegally in order to make money. Is this illegal? Yes.
- ACORN scans all of its registration forms and reports those that seems hinkey. Why report it? Because it is illegal to destroy registration forms, even if it says Mickey Mouse.
Okay, so now what.
First, no one named Mickey Mouse is going to show up at Precinct 27 in Tallahassee and vote. Therefore, there is no VOTER fraud, only voter registration fraud. Result, ACORN was defrauded, the American people were not.
Second, if Thomas Jones is registered 27 times at Precinct 30 in Tallahassee and shows up to vote, he will only be allowed to vote one time. Therefore, there is no VOTER fraud, only voter registration fraud. Result, ACORN was defrauded, the American people were not.
Third, if the late Jack Jackson of St. Augustine is registered by an unprincipled person, then obviously Jack Jackson is not going to turn up to vote in St. Augustine. Therefore, there is no VOTER fraud, only voter registration fraud. Result, ACORN was defrauded, the American people were not.
ACORN is a non-issue. What is an issue is the Republican SUCCESS at removing real Democratic voters with faulty voter purging and hurdles like requiring a drivers license. Why? Well, let's let the leader of the modern Conservative movement tell us why.
So, there you have it folks, most Republicans don't want you to vote because exercising that right cuts down on their chances of winning. At least there is one Republican out there that not only wants you to "Vote", as you can see from the scarf she is wearing, but even gives you a subliminal message about who to vote for in this election. I guess that must be part of her $150,000 ensemble that the McCain camp bought.
