Chris Fitzsimon at NC Policy watch has a concise preview of the upcoming legislative session and the fuzzy fuzzy budget picture.
It adds up to a challenging session for lawmakers, who will be meeting with one eye focused on their own re-election campaigns and in the shadow of a gubernatorial race that is almost certain to include misleading and simplistic rhetoric about budgets and taxes.
Almost certain? Myers Park Pat has already jump-started the simplistic rhetoric with his victory speech Tuesday night. Might have to give the guy a new nickname.

There are a lot of good Democrats in Myers Park
That's where I was raised.

Is there video of Elizabeth
Is there video of Elizabeth Edwards' testimony today on the Hill?

Health Care
She and Lance Armstrong both testified today before the Senate's HELP committee. Found a small segment on Think Progress:
I'll see if I can track down the full video later today.

It's interesting that she only made a remark in passing
on Universal Health Care and didn't even call it that, I don't think.

I still think you should have including the illegal war in iraq.
Because I would have voted for that.

I think that just shows you how important it is.
I'd like to see people be able to pick their top two issues - maybe represented in a bar graph? Or prioritize 1 through 5. That would be interesting, too.

Still recovering from the Moore-Perdue wars.
It will get better as soon as Ms. Perdue gets back on the trail and starts showing what Democrats will do for the state as opposed to Republicans. And it's a WRAL poll. Isn't that the most conservative station in the state? I won't even watch that news cast.

Reproductive Rig?
I am surprised more people didn't vote that reproductive rigs are important to them! Go fig!
Hmm. I know that feeling.
>wink
One of the most important things the next President will do is appoint at least 1 new, possible 2, Supreme Court Justices (I'm making educated guesses based on the age of the Justices now on the court.)
That's another good reason for people who are about reproductive rights (dare I throw the A bomb? Yeah, I do), people who want to ensure that all women who require a safe, healthy abortion, are able to obtain one - to vote for the Democratic nominee, no matter who he or she is.

This is why I'm still a Democrat
It's about two things: the party platform that still supports a woman's right to choose abortion and fact that the President makes appointments (w/ confirmation) to the Supreme Court.
