Hah!
Interesting article. I found myself saying "Bullshit" a whole lot while I read it, too. I found myself wanting the author of the article to supply links to the sources of the information, as I would on a blog entry - I'm spoiled.
As for Boylan - he's not smart enough to compare himself to Clinton. That would be anathema for him (and he wouldn't know that word.)

Political Pope Culture Myths?
Wonder if David Almond and Hairdresser Joe will use all this in their defense?*A
Yes! In fact, they have taken a fast Art Pope pop Culture quiz, and got some of the answers from them.
1. Men like blond bombshells (and women want to look like them)
* Hairdresser Joe " Yes! When I did hair in South Central LA!"
* Prevert David " Where is South Central LA and what is a blond?"
2. Humans are naturally polygamous
* Hairdresser Joe " No way! I know for a fact that Republican Presidental candiate Mitt Romey has only one marriage licence"
* Prevert David " True! And Newt, McCain along with Fred, and Rudy have 45 wives between them.
3. Most women benefit from polygyny, while most men benefit from monogamy
* Hairdresser Joe " True! Senator Vitter has donated to that cause many times."
* Prevert David " Holy Foley Crap! I have millions of past Hustler and Playboys mazs and 0 Gay mazs.
4. Most suicide bombers are Muslim
* Hairdresser Joe " Ha! I live in South Central LA early in my life and the only suicide bombers were former Japanese Co-eds pilots from UCLA during WW2."
* Prevert David " What was WW2? And are those Co-eds in the " Girls gone Wild video?"
5. Having sons reduces the likelihood of divorce
* Hairdresser Joe " Not true! My 2 nd wife had 14 daughters from a previous marriage and I still ended up with the support payments."
* Prevert David " I will let you know after this week, when I explain to my wife why I am not a State Rep anymore!"
6. Beautiful people have more daughters
* Hairdresser Joe " Are you kidding! Have you been to Moore County in the last 100 years!"
* Prevert David " I have! But have you seen my daughter?"
7. What Bill Gates and Paul McCartney have in common with criminals
* Hairdresser Joe " They both started out as rockers in their family garage?"
* Prevert David " Were they not the presidental and VP candiates in 1968 against LBJ?"
8. The midlife crisis is a myth—sort of
* Hairdresser Joe " I am only 25 and feeling up women poltical leaders is consider a political contact sport"
* Prevert David " Dang right it is a myth that I was caught with my pants down on the job."
9. It's natural for politicians to risk everything for an affair (only if they're male)
* Hairdresser Joe " How do you know that? Remember I am a hairdresser!! "
* Prevert David " Yes! Now I am out of a job!"
10. Men sexually harass women because they are not sexist
* Hairdresser Joe " You got me! I am a equal harassment toucher when in a mixed political meeting."
* Prevert David " Women harass me! I finally got tired of it and did something else to get even with them."
Larry Kissell fundraising.
from swingstage,
NC-08 Robin Hayes $150K(Q1) $309K(Q2) $375K(COH)
NC-08 Larry Kissell $12K(Q1) $141K(Q2) $101K(COH)
It isn't bleak, but he isn't one of these:

the much more important numbers
amount raised by Robin Hayes at this point in 2005 was higher than what he has now.
amount raised by Larry Kissell was $0 until about November or so in 2005.
"Keep the Faith"
"Keep the Faith"
not to mention
there doesn't seem to be any $$$ raised by Larry's Primary challenger.
Larry Kissell is MY Congressman
Not really
Larry also had the surprise factor at this point in 2005. Hayes still has more than enough to self-finance.
$100,000 COH - $50,000 Debt = $50,000. Not too different from this point in 2005.

huh?
At this point in 2005 Larry was on a mission trip, not in the country. He didnt decide to run until October or November of 05. So yeah, I would say there is a huge difference between not even thinking about running and having 100,000 cash on hand with 30+ points in name recognition.
"Keep the Faith"
"Keep the Faith"
They had less miles to run last time
and the Hayes campaign is going to be taking them seriously all next year ... it's a different, harder game this time. Hayes wasn't doing as much to get reelected at this point in 2005, either.
And it's going to be at least 3 quarters before they have another $50K+ quarter in PAC/DCCC contributions. If they're spending $45K a quarter, they're going to start running in to problems quickly.

that would be correct
Except he had raised more at this point in 05 than he has now. So, while he might be expecting a fight, and while he can self fund, its usually a very bad sign.
Look at the self funding of Chucky last cycle and how "useful" that was.

Clarifying
Taylor's corruption was bigger than CAFTA. Hayes doesn't have any that the media is keen on reporting or that is staring people in the face (unless something comes out of his tobacco plant closing windfall).
Larry's not going to have the saliency this cycle that Heath had last cycle. C'mon.
Let's just hope Hillary isn't the nominee.
Larry's a great guy. I won't say a thing against Larry Kissell.

Those numbers don't surprise me
Especially when you go through each of the PACs and find that most of them are Dem. House Leadership and Campaign PACs. Nor does the lack of debt service surprise me. But the $60K in the spent column stunned me.

Number 4 is easy
Islamic fundamentalists are willing to blow themselves up for their god. Christian fundamentalists are willing to blow every one else up for theirs. Other than that, doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between the two except for a differing choice in sun-baked literature to pick-and-choose verses from to make wholly insane points.
Whaddaya gonna do.
PS: Thoroughly enjoyed Sicko. Well, belay that. I thought the movie was superlative. A lot of the subject matter moved me between shame and anger at what piratization has wrought and how easily Americans have allowed it. Bravo, MM, well done.

Apparently -
it has more to do with sex and less to do with God.
So they get competitive, and blow themselves up. Probably the same logic works for Christian fundies, too. They're allowed to have sex - if they're straight and married. I'm not sure if they're allowed to enjoy it or not.

Would that be Kansas, where her husband lives?
The District of Columbia, where she lives at the Watergate?
Or, the state of Denial - where her fundraiser lives?

It should be on the reports
I think that they have to itemize expenses, don't they? Betsy nows more about this than I do.

early details
She apparently sent out 2 mass mailings trying to get more donors (those darn contribution limits). She also hired staff and bought "equipment". No further explination at this time.
The details should be online fairly soon though.

I have an audio techie question
what's the best way to transfer music from cassette to CD? I've got a ton of old stuff on cassette that I still listen to but I want to get some of it into my iTunes. Help. :-\
"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
Get it professionally done
But the most cost-effective way is to use a simple music suite ($10 at Best Buy) and a stereo-to-microphone jack ($5 at Radio Shack) and record it in PCM wave format ... of course, then you have to edit the music yourself, and you have to have a good cassette player (not a Walkman) with audio out. iTunes should convert the files from wav to iTunes format easily ... though you need enough GBs to handle PCMs.

you can hook your cassette player into your computer
and then record the audio in, then you can turn that audio into .mp3

Joe Hackney Helps Me Out
It was a cartoon picture of Joe Hackney that said "Joe Hackney Helps Me Out." I was trying to do like a "Mark Warner is Good" thing, but some folks thought that it looked sarcastic, so I abandoned scant originality and just did "Joe Hackney is Good."
