I absolutely heart Harry Taylor

He's my man.

And this blog entry has absolutely nothing to do with my need for an opportunity to practice the html to embed a photo, oops, I mean "image."

Not that I want to digress from the lovin' I'm feelin'. Heck, I'm so full of the pash I'll even spread the gooey stuff over the AP's Tim Whitmire, Washington Post's Peter Baker and the New York Times' (Jim Rutenberg the "Charlotte Observer's" Carrie Levine and anyone else who mentioned either Harry's question, the protests outside, OR the fact that they couldn't get takers on the 1000 tickets to attend the event.

Duke lacrosse story deserves comment

I know Anglico said it was a slow news day when he posted the castration story but, still, I have to say it seems like fun and games in comparison to this horrible Duke lacrosse team debacle. At least there, the survivors were willing.

Maybe I missed the discussion of this topic. Or maybe we're all too repulsed to comment? I sure am. I just hope the sentence for rape in North Carolina is appropriate to these alleged crimes.

Dear Mr. President:

WHEN YOU

DUMP FISA

TERRORISTS WIN

Let me remind you, Mr. President. This is what you said on September 11, 2001:

Statement by the President in His Address to the Nation

8:30 P.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT: Good evening. Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts.

. . .

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Streak ends at two

I'm sad to report that the unprecedented but brief outbreak of journalistic integrity in Western North Carolina is over.

Today in the Asheville Citizen-Times, Julie Ball wrote extensively about budget woes locally for the National Park Service. Apparently, (among other things) the Blue Ridge Parkway can't afford the 700,000 maps it hands out annually. Staff at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has been cut by 13.

There are so many things wrong with the presentation of material, I literally don't know where to begin. And since I just listened repeatedly to the two audio clips they posted, I'm deeply depressed.

what's up for the Charlotte Bush appearance?

I'd like to know if anyone is planning a counter event for the April 6 Bush Charlotte press event?

10:45 am THE PRESIDENT makes Remarks on the Global War on Terror

TBD Location | Charlotte, North Carolina

OPEN PRESS

Is Mel Watt going to make any comments? Is anyone dialed into Charlotte activism? Whatever is done should probably precede the event because it's clearly designed to catch the noon news and might not get much coverage if it's afterwards.

Last time he came to NC (Kernersville), there wasn't enough notice to get a permit and the Kernersville police said their city attorney considered one person holding a sign a picket, requiring 72 hours notice which, of course, the Bush folks knew not to give.

Taylor's latest photo op turns ugly . . . well, into real journalism - oops

Shocking news out of Henderson County. Charles Taylor showed up for his normal bi-annual pre-election "I'm wonderful" photo op tour and an out-of-control real journalist showed up to cover it.

In an alarming set-back to the normally all-powerful, media-dominating Taylor campaign apparatus, a Jonathan Rich of the Hendersonville Times-News actually included another point of view in his article about Taylor getting credit for something he had nothing to do with.

It started out well for Taylor in an article titled "Treasury secretary Snow visits BRCC" [okay -- I'm not sure how to do the link for it: http://www.hendersonvillenews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006604010338

virgin blogger

Okay, I'm new at this. I have no idea what the lists are above this box except that they must have to do with my content. Since I'm just trying to figure this whole blog thing out, I really have no topic.

Well, I'll pick one. I worked for Patsy Keever in the last election. So that puts me at NC-11. I now live in NC-10 which rivals the 11th for having an absolutely repulsive representative.

It's wonderful and encouraging and awesome that you all created this forum to collect all the poop on these jokers. Props to you BlueNC folks. I love you.

Now back to repulsive congresspersons. I don't know much about Foxx but I'm not too far from the 5th and I've heard rumors. Something about getting a facelife the week she voted against Katrina funds.
